On December 14, 2024, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of the Center for Research and Education of the the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) had a conversation with The youth with hearing loss about "Self-development and work".

Thoughts of the youth with hearing loss:

• He has grown up, having him own passion and a stable job. He is recognized for his ability at work but he still needs support from his colleagues due to limited hearing. How to listen better to work better?

• How to communicate effectively in the work environment?

According to Ms. Hanh, in order for communication to be effective, some factors need to be considered:

(1) Face-to-face/online working environment.

(2) Verbal and written communication.

(3) Subjects who are direct managers/colleagues/other departments

(4) Purpose and objectives of communication: Accepting jobs, discussing job requirements, discussing products, etc.

(5) Support for communication with the hard of hearing in the working environment: Information to the hard of hearing should be specific, clear, consistent, and notified as soon as possible, and the assigned work content should be in accordance with the capacity and expertise that the person with hearing loss is trained in. Creating conditions for the deaf to improve their skills and foster work skills in the process of working.

(6) The people with hearing loss need to train themselves to have the habit of being proactive, self-learning, and having a progressive spirit to develop themselves and work better and better.
