EXTRACURRICULAR SESSION: WHEN CHILDREN WITH HEARING LOSS LEARN ENGLISH (PART 1)
“Applying PowerPoint to Teaching English to Students with hearing loss” – That is the name of the project jointly implemented by the Center for Research on Education for the Deaf (CED) and a group of students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages - Saigon University that have the participation of all students studying at the Center.
The project was launched with a proficiency test to understand the students' reading, understanding and absorption abilities and at the same time determine the appropriate teaching methods of teachers.
By the afternoon of July 24, 2024, the first lesson began with two groups of students, with the same topic but different teaching and learning methods: Group 1 (learning through PowerPoint presentations), Group 2 (learning through lessons written on the board).
With the enthusiasm and dedication of the teachers and the concentration and positivity of the students, the lesson was lively and effective. Developing vocabulary, practicing writing and pronunciation, and improving communication skills through bilingual learning in English and Vietnamese while ensuring equal access to education for deaf children, these are all the passions and goals that the project implementation team is determined to achieve.
