COMMUNITY SUPPORT: CONSULTATION WORKSHOP OF THE HANDBOOK ON GUIDING SKILLS TO SUPPORT PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS (DEAF, HARD HEARING, LATE-DEAF) IN MEDICAL EXAMINATION AND TREATMENT IN HOSPITALS
On December 25, 2024, the representatives of The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) were invited to participate in the consultation workshop “The Draft handbook on guiding skills to support people with hearing loss in medical examination and treatment in hospitals” organized by the Department of Medical Service Administration, Ministry of Health.
Participants in this workshop to provide comments on the Draft Handbook were representatives of Ministries and departments; hospitals under the Ministry of Health; Departments of Health of provinces and centrally-run cities; Leaders of the University and the Department of Rehabilitation of a number of medical universities together with specialized associations and Associations of people with disabilities, for people with disabilities; NGOs and some media and other stakeholders.
It is known that the "Handbook on guiding skills to support people with hearing loss in medical examination and treatment at hospitals" of The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) was compiled into a document of the Ministry of Health according to Decision No. 4052/QD-BYT issued by the Ministry of Health on November 3, 2023. The editorial board for the Handbook held a workshop to collect comments on the Draft on October 30, 2024.
The Handbook will be used for medical examination and treatment facilities, and medical staff to grasp information to support patients with hearing loss; and people with hearing loss to refer to the supportive procedures of hospitals, as well as know how to request support.
The Board of Directors and the collective of teachers and staff of CED are honored to share this good news with parents, the community of people with hearing loss, and those who work with them.
With CED, everything is possible.
Sincerely!
