COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES: STUDENT WITH HEARING LOSS AND LIFE SKILLS
On December 14, 2024, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) had a consultation session for the parents of student with hearing loss on how to support their children when they learn a job and improve life skills for their children to prepare for work in the future.
Parent's concerns:
- The student is confident, quick-witted, eager to learn but still young and lacking perseverance.
- The student Wants to improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to communicate confidently, to read and study materials on their own, and self-study.
According to Ms. Hanh,
- The student needs to practice Proactivity, patience, listening skills, and be openness to communication with trainer and colleagues.
- To be able to read books and newspapers and self-study, he needs to have a minimum reading comprehension ability and a habit. His family can help him develop reading skills as follows:
+ Creating a reading habit: his father reads with him.
+ Selecting reading content: that related to the field of work he is interested in or wanting to improve and update his knowledge that helps his study and work.
With CED, everything is possible.
