TRAINING PROGRAM: CLOSE SESSION OF TRAINING COURSE 10 OF SKILLS IN SUPPORTING PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS (DEAF/HEARING HARD/LATE-DEAFED) IN HOSPITALS

On July 06, 2024, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) with 18 trainees, including 14 ones who are Social Workers, Customer Service staff working at Vinh International Hospital, Nam An Cosmetic Hospital, Ngo Manh Hung Cosmetic Surgery Hospital, Kien Giang Province Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, Hung Vuong Hospital, District 8 Hospital and 04 Dong Thap University and Ho Chi Minh City Open University interns completed the last session of the training program.

During the session, trainees discusses about:

- What are the issues involved in supporting people with hearing loss in hospitals?

- Situations that can occur from the point of health examination registration to payment of hospital fees, and instructions on medication use.

The training course begins with helping hospital staff understand the difficulties of patients with hearing loss when they visit hospitals and medical facilities. The training aimed to support the hospital step by step fulfilling the Criteria A2.5 of the Vietnam Hospital Quality Standard, Version 2.0 that people with disability can fully access all faculties, divisions and medical examination and treatment services in hospitals and help them to better understand the difficulties of people with hearing loss in medical examination and treatment in hospitals.

CED sincerely thanks the hospitals and medical facilities for creating favorable conditions for their staff to participate in the course, thanks trainees for participating so actively and giving a lot of love to CED as well as the community of people with hearing loss. The attention and understanding from the trainees will be bridges that help connect people with hearing normal and people with hearing loss together, helping people with hearing loss to be listened to and understood, and to get appropriate support when they need help, visit and treat patients at hospitals and use services at medical facilities.
