STEM: EVAPORATION AND APPLICATIONS IN LIFE

On June 29, 2023, at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED), STEM students had a practice session with the topic "Evaporation and application in life".

The content of the lesson did not go deeply in explaining the chemical knowledge about the evaporation of liquids. With experimental equipments (alcohol lamp, tongs, holder, test tube, measuring cup ..), water, oil…, the students were divided into two groups (the sample experiment group and the control experiment group). They were instructed:

- Doing an experiment to determine the evaporation time of 5ml of water and 5ml of cooking oil, and of 10ml of water and 10ml of cooking oil, heated with 90% ethanol.

- Replacing 90% ethanol with 70% ethanol and determine the time.

- Conclusions: The evaporation time of a liquid depends on the type of liquid, the volume of the liquid and the source of heat supplied.

- The knowledge learned would be the basis for the next lesson: Make your own essential oils.

STEM session at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) aimed to ensure students have equal rights in education, practice analystical and thinking skills, teamwork skills and know how to apply knowledge learned in everyday life.
