EXTRACURRICULAR SESSION – LEARNING COOKING
“Learning Cooking” – That was the topic of the July 28, 2023 extracurricular session for STEM class at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED).
In this cooking session, the class was divided into groups: shopping group, preparation group, soup cooking group and meat frying group. After the teacher's general instructions, students carried out their group-work but still followed and supported the other groups when needed. The atmosphere of the cooking session was very lively and exciting. It was fun to learn together, to cook together, especially to have lunch together with the dishes were made by themselves and friends.
“Learning cooking” is one of the Vocational Education modules for STEM classes, in addition to forging students creativity, dexterity and patience, “Learning cooking” also helps students see their self-worth, being able to cook meals for family members, and being optimistic and happy because they have emotionally bonded with family members as Professor Alan Wolfelt (University of Colorado, School of Medicine) wrote: “Food is symbolic of love when words are inappropriate”.
