ACTIVITY REPORT - FEBRUARY 2023
Part 1: CED activities
- On February 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2023, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) had a training session on the topic of Sign Language and Lips-Reading basic level for 20 participants in the 71st Class of Skills for Communication with People with Hearing Los. The class ended successfully with 18 participants completing.

- On February 17, 2023, representatives of the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) attended the seminar "Support in providing information to call for the fourth funding initiative" of the Justice Initiatives Facilitation Fund (JIFF), Project on Strengthening Law and Justice in Vietnam funded by the European Union and managed by Oxfam Vietnam.

- CED received:
+ 01 student enrolls in Preparatory class 1.
+ 02 internship students majoring in Social Work, Open University of Ho Chi Minh City.
- CED provided 03 legal consultations and legal aid for 03 people with hearing loss (Deaf/Hard of hearing), specifically as follows:
1. Guided 01 person with hearing loss and his family to prepare documents for certification of disability in the locality – Ca Mau.
2. Supported Tan Binh District Police in interpreting sign language for 01 person with hearing loss during the investigation of property theft.
3. Cooperated with the Lawyer of Ho Chi Minh City State Legal Aid Center and District 11 Police to support 01 person with hearing loss reporting about money fraud through social networks in the form of loans and investments business.
- CED shared to the community information about seminars and programs:
1. Webinar on “Direct Text Interpretation – Next Steps” of the European Federation of Hearing Impaired (EFHOH).

- Government Scholarships (Australia Awards) in Vietnam started to receive application for the priliminary round of the batch 2024.

Part 2: CED’s Hearing Aid Fund Report
In February 2023, CED’s Hearing Aid Fund received 70 hearing aids from the project “Help for little Ears” of the German Lions Foundation.
CED continues to note of wishes on joining the hearing aids granting program for children with hearing loss in poor families. Parents who have children with hearing loss under 18 years old and want to register for hearing aids, please register at this link:

We would kindly ask family whose children get approved for granting hearing aids to contribute 100.000 VND/hearing aid to the Hearing Aid Fund for children with hearing loss in poor families.

Part 3: Peer Consultation/Counseling
In February, the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) conducted 87 consultation/counseling cases on inclusive education for children/people with hearing loss, sign language interpretation in legal and medical fields, counseling on spoken language development for children with hearing loss, skills for communication with people with hearing loss, instructions for assisting people with hearing loss in hospitals, legal aids for people with hearing loss, connecting, cooperating activities with organisations on social responsibility.
