EXTRACURRICULAR SESSION: WATCHING MOVIE “CO BA SAI GON"
On October 13, 2023, at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) STEM students had an extracurricular session on watching the movie “ Co Ba Sai Gon”. This is one of a series of extracurricular activities to celebrate Vietnamese Women’s Day on October 20 in CED.
The movie ”Co Ba Sai Gon” was a story about the family of the owner of shop Thanh Nu, the well known tailor shop in Sai Gon that nine generations were tailors making Ao Dai. Key of the story was Nhu Y – the third daughter who disliked making Aodai, wearing Aodai. After the death of her mom and her failure in life, she felt very deeply about what Ao Dai brought to her life. This movie has two messages:
- Vietnamese women are beautiful not only in their appearance, the way they dress, but more importantly it appreciates the values that are considered the national soul and spirit.
- Empower women: the heir chosen to continue the family’s business is female, eliminating the stereotype that it only passes on to male.
The extracurricular session “Co Ba Sai Gon” aimed to celebrate Vietnamese Women’s Day and educated students to gain more knowledge about Sai Gon in the 60s, distinguish styles, fabrics of modern Aodai and Aodai of “Co Ba Sai Gon”.
