TRAINING PROGRAM: OPENING SESSION OF THE COURSE 74 OF SKILLS IN COMMUNICATION WITH PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS

On June 16, 2024, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) trained Vietnamese Sign Language – Basic Level for 31 participants, including 22 participants working in the fields of Education, Health Care, Laws, Communication, Social Activities, and 09 students.

Vietnamese Sign language is one of two themes in the training program on Skills for Communication with People with Hearing Loss (Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened). The second theme is lipsreading.

In the first session, participants learned about people with hearing loss, the concept of sign language and the Vietnamese Alphabet Signs, practicing to sign family name and given name, greeting.

Especially, participants were instructed about sign-thinking through the activity of guessing “what does this sign means?” and analysing how the sign is formed.

Sessions are held periodically on Sunday mornings.
