TRAINING ON ASSISTING PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS SKILLS FOR MEDICAL STAFF OF THE TAN HUNG INTERNATIONAL GENETAL HOSPITAL, DISTRICT 7

On February 15, 16, 17 and 20, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) trained 15 participants who were medical staff in 12 faculties of Tan Hung International General Hospital about skills for assisting people with hearing loss in hospital.

The training aimed to support the hospital step by step fulfilling the Criteria A2.5 on people with disability can fully access all faculties, divisions and medical examination and treatment services in hospitals, of the Vietnam Hospital Quality Standard, Version 2.0, and help them to better understand the difficulties of people with hearing loss in medical examination and treatment in hospitals.

In the training, participants were introduced to communication ways with people with hearing loss by sign language and speechreading, communication skills and skills for assisting people with hearing loss in hospital, guidelines for making procedure in supporting people with hearing loss in hospital.

CED also transferred to the hospital the products such as: Handbook on assisting people with hearing loss in hospital, transparent masks; tools for supporting people with hearing loss: sign language clips on medical examination and treatment,… which were researched and developed by CED.

CED will work to update the progress on supporting people with hearing loss in hospitals in 2023.
