SUMMARY OF THE COURSE ON SKILLS FOR COMMUNICATION TO PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS CLASSES 72 AND 73 (SIGN LANGUAGE AND LIPSREADING)

Both classes 72 and 73 of the course on Skills for Communication to People with Hearing Loss received a total of more than 87 registrations, with the attendance of 84 participants and 37 participants who successfully complete the course and receive course participation certificates.

With the active participation and high learning spirit of the students and the enthusiastic sharing of Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED), a learning space has been created that was vibrant, open and friendly. CED received encouraging comments from participants after completing the course:

“Sincerely grateful for the stories that Ms. Hanh shared as well as the professional knowledge that she has diligently researched and summarized. This last lesson helped me better understand the world of people with hearing loss. Then I realized more clearly the concept that people were born equally, with hearing loss or normal hearing. If they do not use their senses to perceive this life, they do not have thinking."

“What I especially like the most about studying with Ms. Hanh is that she always created opportunities for me and the participants to express and contribute opinions. Today's class excellently demonstrated that advantage. I really learned and received new knowledge from the speeches, group activities, and independent thinking from her questions!”

“The course content helped me better understand and recognize people with hearing loss, hard of hearing and late deafened and how to communicate with people with hearing loss...The course has helped me better understand the communication life of people with hearing loss. It has helped me with basic communication and better understanding them. Thus, I can help people with hearing loss in communicating their wishes."

“I find that the content throughout this course has been condensed to make it easy for beginners to absorb. The theory was concise, and there were many practical parts. Students have been able to interact with each other, be guided through every adjustment while practicing sign language and lipsreading. Moreover, all questions were answered as well as feedbacks were given during and after each session."

“The young people are very active and confident, participating in the class with the spirit of wanting to be useful for people with hearing loss and help people with hearing loss integrate better into the community.”

“Through the lessons so far, though the class is only 2 hours, a lot of content is conveyed in each lesson. At the beginning of the class, Ms. Hanh reviewed the lesson, helping me quickly remember. Though after class K73 I may forget, but for sure, when I watch the video lecture again, the knowledge I have learned and understood will be remembered very quickly. In today's session, I feel that time passes too quickly. The content in each lesson is concise, complete, and easy to review. Many thanks to Ms. Hanh, Ms. Mi and the organizers.

Sincere thanks for learning sign language and being interested in communicating to people with hearing loss. The concern and understanding from our participants will be bridges that help connect normal hearing people and people with hearing loss together, helping people with hearing loss be heard, understood and accompanied on their journey to integrate and contribute to society.
