The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED)

On November 2th, 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) was invited by aT Korea Argo-Fisheries & Food Company, under Korea Ministry of Agriculture, as a social organization to receive sponsorship of Korean food imports in the Korean Food Fair Program held on November 2nd – 3rd, 2019.

On November 2nd, 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) was selected as one of the 6 NPOs attending the meeting with Ms. Bonnie Glick, the Deputy Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This is a great honor for CED.

On November 2nd - 3rd, 2019, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of CED continued to teach to teach “Teaching Deaf Children: Techniques and Methods” for students to get the diploma in Special Education (In Service) programme.

On November 10, 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) ended the Basic Sign Language Class of Course 65 with 28 students receiving the certificates.

On November 12th, 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) provided information for the research on Social Enterprises by Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hieu, Hanoi University.

On November 13th, 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) was interviewed and videoed about the challenges of CED formation and development by Mr. Richard Brubaker - Director of Entrepreneurs For Good Project ( EFG). Through this series of interviews, EFG talks with entrepreneurs in Asia on the mission of providing solutions to the environmental, social and economic challenges facing the region to learn more about their vision, the opportunities they see and the challenges they have to overcome.

On November 13th, 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) cordially welcomed Professor Dr. Richard Hazenberg, Nothampton University, Director of the Innovation Center, to visit and interview the model of CED's social enterprise for his social innovation research project.

On November 16th, 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) successfully organized the “Lip-reading” Program for 10 students (specialized and integrated teachers, social workers, office workers, travel staff, engineering engineers, information technology students, etc…) Especially, the class also has a group of deaf friends participating for the practicing. The program focuses on instructing how to design lessons for children and people with hearing disabilities can HEAR by seeing sign and guess. The program is also suitable for students with hearing loss who wear a hearing aid or cochlear implant but have challenge to hear in noisy environments at normal schools.

On November 17th, 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) has just opened the Basic Sign Language Class of Course 66 with 20 students who work in offices, business, finance, banking, assistant managers, architects, hair & makeup specialists, teachers, nurses, hospital social workers, staff in SOS Children's Village.

On November 18th - 20th, 2019, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of CED was invited by Gia An 115 Hospital give training of “Skills in Supporting People with Hearing Loss at Hospitals” on November 18th - 19th  - 20th, 2019.

The training about:

  • Basic sign language and medicine terms,
  • Skills to assist the hearing impaired to read the lip signals,
  • A skill that supports sudden hearing loss,
  • Solutions for some communication situations and supporting deaf patients,
  • Developing the procedures and specifications for supporting at the hospital departments.

On November 20th, 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) organized making a greeting card for Vietnamese Teachers' Day.

On November 21th, 2019, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of CED was invited to teach “Vietnamese Teaching Methods” for students of the Department of Special Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.

On November 30th, 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) participated in “The Kindness Day - Ngày Hội Thiện Tâm Nhân Ái” at Suoi Tien Theme Park. The program was organized by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs in association with Suoi Tien Corporation with the aim to promote the International Day of Disabled Persons on December 3, 2019.

Report of  “CED Hearing Aid Fund” :  in November, 2019 The CED Hearing Aid Fund has donated 6 hearing aids to 6 childrens with hearing loss from poor families in Ben Tre province and Dong Thap province.

Consultancy/Peer counseling

In this month, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) had accomplished 85 cases of consultancy/peer counseling for education, introduction to employment, support for application, hearing aid, consultancy for parents with difficulty in teaching children with hearing loss, sign language etc…
