The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED)
On 02 May 2020, Ms Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) joined the project called “The role of social business in social development” of National Economics University.
On 06 May 2020, The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) conducted a report of VASF - CESR’s scholarship. In the first 3 months of 2020, we received 5 admission applications (2 applications for pre-school 1, 3 applications for special program).
On 6 May 2020, The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) had a meeting with parents in order to share about “The preparation for students on the upcoming school comeback and the support for cost of living fee during COVID-19.
On 11 May 2020, The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) had officially opened. We split our course into 2 periods in order to help students to adapt with the lessons easier and also cope with social distancing. The Education – Vocational Training - Inclusion class and Academic literacy class were re-opened on 11 May 2020. The Inclusion Education class 1 and Special Education class 1 were re-opened on 15 May 2020. Our students are taught on how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the first week of school.
On 11 May 2020, The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) are deeply honoured to receive a certification from World Health Organization (WHO) for our social activities in the World Hearing Day (3 March 2020).
On 12 May 2020, Ms Ton Nu Thi Nhi - Vice Director of The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) welcomed parents that wish their children to apply to CED. The child starts to have a cochlear implant in 1 year. She had joint mainstream kindergarten but it could not help much in her language development. After reading about CED via website that has pre-school program for inclusion education, parents would like to apply for their child.

On 12 May 2020, Ms Ton Nu Thi Nhi - Vice Director of The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) has welcomed Ms Huynh Ngoc Hoang Vy - Director of Marketing of Thinh Giac Nhan Ai (Easyhear) Company visiting CED.
On 13 May 2020, Ms Ton Nu Thi Nhi - Vice Director of The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) welcomed the Rosa House bakery owner visiting and also talking about job opportunities to CED’s students.
On 20 May 2020, The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) welcomed Mr Yuya Ozaki – Representative of The Star Kitchen visiting CED. Mr Yaya has handed Banh Mi Rusk to our students as a gift and wished the Banh Mi Rusk made a good memory about his visit.
On 21 May 2020, Ms Ton Nu Thi Nhi - Vice Director of The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) welcome 2 people with visual disabilities - Vo Dang Khoa and Tran Bau visiting CED and our students. They suggested volunteering to teach material art and flute for our CED’s students.
On 27 and 28 May 2020, Ms Ton Nu Thi Nhi - Vice Director of The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) welcomed 2 parents that their child has difficulty in social integration.
First child is 10 years old, currently study at grade 3:
• Parents had called in advance before coming to CED to know more about the school and also give information about their child’s condition.
• He was tested at CED. The result had shown that he has lost a basic knowledge of Vietnamese language and Math.
• With our motto “While there is life, there is hope - Support our students with the inclusion”, all parents are consulted how to raise and help their child to learn at school as well as social integration. The best way is to combine to learn at normal school and CED rather than quit normal school to join CED.
Second child is 7 years old, currently study pre-school normal kindergarten:
• His language skill had not developed much
• After founding via website the CED has the Inclusion Education class 1, parents would like to register their child to study at CED.
On 29 May 2020, Ms Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) consulted 1 college student:
• Which environment is suitable for people with hearing loss?
• Which academic solution is best to use in developing imagination skills for people with hearing loss?

Report of “CED Hearing Aid Fund”: In May, 2020, the CED Hearing Aid Fund had granted 11 hearing aids to 7 children/adults with hearing loss from poor families such as:
• Tran Thi Thu Phuong from Kien Giang (2 hearing aids)
• Tran Hoang Long from Vung Tau (1 hearing aids)
• Huynh Ngoc Giau from Tra Vinh (2 hearing aids)
• Bui Quoc Trung from HCM City (1 hearing aids)
• Dao Duy Hoa from Ha Noi (1 hearing aids)
• Le Dang Thao Trang (2 hearing aids)
• Quach Hieu Tuyen from Thanh Hoa (2 hearing aids)
On behalf of 7 students, CED deeply thanks to German Lions Foundation and Hear and Say sponsoring hearing aids. Besides that, CED would like to thank Quang Duc Hearing Services Company for its installation service.
Consultation/Peer counselling:
In May 2020, The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) had 78 consultations regarding education, hearing aids, COVID-19’s survey, consultancy for parents with difficulties in teaching their child with hearing loss, sign language etc …
