The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED).
On December 1st 2018, The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED), Ho Chi Minh City Deaf Club and parents and students attended in 19th “Thien Tam Nhan Ai” Program in Suoi Tien Park to promote International Disability Day, December 3rd.. This annual event had attracted thousands of people and children with disabilities of Centers, Schools, Organizations coming from the Southern Provinces.
On December 02nd 2018, Ms Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED had a talk with Ho Chi Minh City Deaf Club and Business Ideas Team (BIT) from HCMC Foreign Trade University to present her about co-operation to design Support People with hearing loss Scale. It’s useful to help them finding suitable jobs, connecting with everyone and enjoying the life.
At the same day, Ms Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED, Sign Language Club and Ho Chi Minh City Deaf Club took part in a report program about Life of People with Hearing Loss and Disabilities on International Day of Person with Disabilities made by HTV9 Television Station.
On December 3rd 2018 The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED) was selected as one of the non-profit organizations supported by Hilton Worldwide. The program gave a grant to support the development of local solutions and strengthen the quality of life in the communities where Hilton Worldwide hotels and corporate offices are serving.
On December 5th 2018, The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED) welcomed 2 representatives of Vietstaff .Ltd visiting and giving a support to CED’s activity. After 2 working weeks, on December 21st 2019, the company sponsored gifts, scholarships and expense for CED Hearing Aids Fund.
On December 7th 2018, the representative of Center In Support of Disabilities in Hiep Binh Chanh visited CED and took advice from Ms Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED for teaching Sign Language for her staff. Both parties have been planning and considering before implementation.
On December 8th 2018, the representative of The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED) worked with the representative of Noir Restaurant about jobs for people with hearing loss (the Deaf/ Hard of Hearing). Noir Restaurant is a Social Enterprise which employs people with hearing and visual disabilities as waiters and waitresses. The Noir’s leaders are having a new plan for Massage Shop which will be served by the employees hearing and visual disabilities. This is the reason of the meeting.
On December 12th 2019 The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED) greeted a student group from Economic Department, Foreign Trade Department of Ho Chi Minh City Economic University and one student with hearing loss from Photographic Department of FPT Arena College. They’ve attended the project “Unlimited Generation” made by Unicef and Saigon Innovation Hub.
All students interviewed the CED staff about difficult things, misunderstanding and prejudice that people with hearing loss had got in their life to study for their own topic. Besides, the team also had ideas for making realistic games and short film about hearing loss.
On December 14th 2018, Ms Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED is the representative to attended the program “The Intel Involved Matching Grant Program 2018”. It aims to build and introduce the force of Intel Group’s volunteers for social organizations . “Intel staff will work as professional volunteers to contribute their time and expertise to Non-profit and Non- government Organizations working in education, environment and public health.” When took part in this program, CED Center’s goal is to combine with Intel volunteers to spread and raise awareness of CARING EARS AND HEARING proposed by World Health Organization (WHO).
On December 17th 2018, The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED) welcomed 3 students studying in Education Management and Education Psychology of University of Social Sciences and Humanities of Ho Chi Minh City to have an interview for their subject “Overview of Special Education”.
The content was: CED’s history of formation and development and educational methods, characteristics of children with hearing loss, difficulties that CED teachers have to handle in teaching children.
In the same day, The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED) greeted and provided information to a student studying in Special Education Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Pedagogy about the topic “Design teaching document for Grade 4 Reading by sign language.
On December 18th 2018, all of teachers and staff of The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED) visited Vinh Mars Co Ltd. This is a garment factory for Girl’s fashion with the age from 5-15. The director is Mrs Nguyen Thi My. She talked and shared friendly about the scale, formation and activity of her factory, also her wish to give job chance to disabled people and housewives working at home.
On December 20th 2018, The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED) welcomed 2 representatives of Pullman Saigon Center Hotel to visit and learn about activities of support people with hearing loss at CED.
On December 21st 2018, Ms Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED was invited to workshop “Support for people with disabilities in health care and rehabilitation” held by Department of Examination and Treatment, Ministry of Health on December 21st 2018 . Ms Duong Phuong Hanh said her opinions to support her community in future:
- Approving hearing aids and cochlear implants on the list of health insurance.
- Setting the training program with Certificate of "Skill in Supporting people with hearing loss (Deaf/ Hard of Hearing/ Deafened) in Hospital" to hospitals in order to meet the ranking criteria of hospital ranking according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health.
On December 24th 2018, two CED teachers and 6 students representing The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED) was invited to participate in the program “Christmas presents” at The Support And Development Center for Inclusive Education of People with Disabilities at 108 Ly Chinh Thang Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.
The same day, The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED) celebrated a Day For Christmas for all CED students to have a chance of having fun, gifts and learning about Christmas.
On December 24th 2018, the representative of Cao Social Enterprise came and shared opportunities of fund to The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED).
On December 25th 2018, the representative of We Are Different Group visited and gave books, picture books to The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED)
On December 28th 2018, The Center for Research And Education of The Deaf And Hard Of Hearing (CED) welcomed the Director of International Relation of TCHEM Co Ltd to visit and discuss about the chance of cooperation in some activities.
Consultancy/Peer counseling:
In this month, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) conducted 65 cases for consultancy / peer counseling in relation with hearing loss field: education, job, hearing aids, giving advice for parents of children with hearing loss, sign language, lip reading, etc…
