DRAWING SESSION – THE SOUND OF COLORS

On Thursday, August 17, 2023 – as every Thursday – at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED), students had a drawing session.

The theme of the crayon class (for preparatory students and early intervention students) was “Fruit”. Students were guided by the teacher and:

- Drew a coconut with its stem intact and next to it was an unshelled coconut with a straw plugged in.

- Used a suitable wax color to paint the coconut (green or yellow-brown).

The theme of the watercolor class (for STEM, inclusive and English classes) was “Free drawing”. Some students drew landscapes, some drew still lifes….During painting, they were always observed and guided by their teacher for sketching and mixing suitable colors.

Drawing session at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) aims to train students for meticulousness, patience, dexterity, and a delicate sense about their surroundings.

There is a saying 'The quieter we are, the more we can hear'. Our students with hearing loss have lived in "silence" and have "listened" to the sounds of life, "listened" to their own ambitions and dreams and used colors to show them all in their paintings.

And… also in silence, if you look at their following artworks, what will you “hear”?
