COMMUNITY AWARENESS RAISING
On September 23, 2021, Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) had an online consultation for Mr. Le Duc Thien, manager of production teams of a private garment company, on how to communicate and work with Deaf staff.
During the consultation, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of CED listened to the sharing of Mr. Thien, who cared very much about life as well as work of his staff; always created opportunities and conditions for them to develop their best working capacity. Mr. Thien worried about communicating with the Deaf staff, how to understand each other and work together effectively.
CED shared about how to work based on the characteristics of the Deaf community: finding a leader in the group of deaf employees to act as a bridge and combining with visual and vivid communication methods to help employees visualize through images and writing. On the other hand, Mr. Thien can teach the deaf group to read and write within the scope of their work as well as learn their sign language.
Through the consultation, Mr. Thien had better understanding about the Deaf and had some new ideas for his work to continue connecting and accompanying the Deaf staff.
Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing sincerely thanks Mr. Thien for trusting and sharing with CED.
