CHILDREN WITH HEARING LOSS AND STEM EDUCATION
STEM stands for the 4 words Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. This is an educational method that provides students with comprehensive knowledge of the four areas mentioned above and integrates many practical skills for children.
Accordingly, children with hearing loss are fully capable of learning STEM, because although they have limited listening and speaking abilities, their judgment, thinking, and meticulous skills are outstanding qualities. These qualities help children participate well in STEM lessons.
The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) brings STEM education into teaching with the belief that STEM will equip our students with life skills, communication skills, problem-solving know-how, and critical thinking - those important qualities for their later social inclusion.
