ACTIVITY REPORT - MAY 2023
Part 1: CED activities
- On May 7, 21, 28, 2023, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) trained Sign Language - Basic level, sessions 6, 7 and 8, for 47 students of Class 72 on Skills for Communications with People with Hearing Loss.
- On May 17, 2023, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) had an evaluation meeting with two social work students of Faculty of Sociology-Social Work-South East Asian Studies, Ho Chi Minh City Open University; and two volunteers who are a fourth-year student majoring in English language of SaiGon University and a student majoring in Finance and Banking, University of Economics and Law - VNU-HCM

- On May 19, 2023, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) advised a student majoring in Business Administration, University of Economics on business planning ideas to support people with hearing loss.

- On May 30, 2023, Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) is one of the eighteen initiatives are assessed as very practical, having huge potential for implementation and in line with the criteria of the JIFF Secretariat.

- CED received:
+ 01 student enrolling in the Special Education class.
+ 01 student enrolling in the Early Intervention Program.
+ 01 student enrolling in the STEM class.
- CED provided 01 legal consultations and legal aid to 01 people with hearing loss (Deaf/Hard of hearing), specifically as follows:
1. Counseling for a family have a child with hearing loss about the application and process for first grade enrollment in an inclusive school.
Part 2: CED’s Hearing Aid Fund Report
In May 2023, CED’s Hearing Aid Fund granted 02 hearing aids for 01 students with hearing loss, as following:
- Vuong Buu Linh, 17 years old, HCMC (2 hearing aids)

CED continues to note of wishes on joining the hearing aids granting program for children with hearing loss in poor families. Parents who have children with hearing loss under 18 years old and want to register for hearing aids, please register at this link: https://forms.gle/p3YnRMSn9VUvvyZU7
We would kindly ask family whose children get approved for granting hearing aids to contribute 100.000 VND/hearing aid to the Hearing Aid Fund for children with hearing loss in poor families.

Part 3: Peer Consultation/Counseling
In May, Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) conducted 77 consultation/counseling cases on inclusive education for children/people with hearing loss, sign language, counseling on spoken language development for children with hearing loss, skills for communication with people with hearing loss, instructions for assisting people with hearing loss in hospitals, hearing aid Fund, connecting, cooperating activities with organisations on social responsibility.
