ACTIVITY REPORT – AUGUST 2021
Part 1: CED activities
- On August 4, 2021, CED had a meeting with the lawyer of our project to evaluate the legal consultation activities, what we have achieved or not so far as well as lessons learned. At the meeting, our project team suggested next steps including interviewing parents about common issues in their daily life in order to design proper questionaires for implementing at special schools when the Covid pandemic is over.

- On August 5, 2021, Ms. To Thi Bich Phuong, Ms. Trieu Thuy Mi and Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc attended the meeting “Café Online with CSVHub” with the invitation from CSVHub. This is the activity in the framework of the project “Win-Win for Vietnam” implemented by RED and PRO NGO and funded by EU.

- On August 7, 2021, CED project team presented the proposal “Nurturing the spirit for a happy life” at the Narrowing the Gap 2021 program organized by the Center for Supporting Community Development.
- On August 14, 2021, Ms. To Thi Bich Phuong, Ms. Trieu Thuy Mi and Ms. Hua Kim Huong – representatives of CED attended the talkshow “Sharing about social work practices in hospital in the context of Covid-19 pandemic”, which was organized by HCMC Professional Social Work Club.

- On Sunday, August 15, 2021, CED organized the consultation meeting for the outline of “The Guideline Handbook on Skills for Assisting People with Hearing Loss in Hospitals.” The meeting had interesting discussions and noted many helpful ideas from 14 people who are experts from various fields such as doctors, health care staff, psychologist, teachers of students with hearing loss, lawyer, gender expert, social workers…

- On August 16, 2021, CED had a meeting with representatives from Oxfam-JIFF Secretariat about extending some activities of the project “Promoting the initial legal support and implementation of regulations on medical examination and treatment for people with hearing loss (deaf, hard of hearing and deafened).”

- On August 18, 2021, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh, Director of CED, answered the interview on the foundation, activities, needs and difficulties of our organisation to Mr. Michael Maher, a doctoral student from the UK.

- On August 21, 2021, CED organized the second meeting in the series of 6 follow-up meetings after the “Sign Language Interpreter Training” course, in order to continue supporting participants in knowledge exchange, skill practicing and experience sharing. At this meeting in August, there were 22 participants from the last training in June, who are teachers in special schools, parents and students from Hanoi, Dong Nai, Nha Trang, An Giang, Dong Thap, Dak Nong, Dak Lak, HCMC…

- On August 26-27, 2021, CED attended the annual multilateral Conference 2021 initiated by LIN, cooperated with the Startup Vietnam Foundation and MSD Vietnam.

- On August 28, 2021, Ms. To Thi Bich Phuong - Vice Director of CED, Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc and Ms. Trieu thuy Mi represented for CED attended the seminar “Sharing ideas and experiences in implementation and practice social work in the context of being affected by Covid 19 pandemic”.

- On August 31, 2021, CED had a meeting with VieSign, a young and talented group working for the non-profit project ranked in top 5 of the SheCodes Hackathon 2021.

Part 2: CED’s Hearing Aid Fund Report
In August 2021, because the Covid situation was still complex, CED’s Hearing Aid Fund could not give the hearing aids to the receivers. However, CED was always present online for recording the requests of the hearing aid granting program for children with hearing loss in poor families.

Part 3: Peer Consultation/Counseling
In August, CED conducted 64 consultation/counseling cases on education, sign language interpretation, jobs, surveys, hearing aids, transparent masks, consulting parents having difficulties in raising children with hearing loss and sign language… and supporting people with hearing loss in the time of Covid (supporting food for parents, instruction and information on Vaccination, physical and mental health care…).
