Psychological Counseling for Family and a student with hearing loss
On July 12, 2024, according to the needs of parents who want their son to pursue the inclusive education, the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) coordinated with the Psychological Counseling Department at the Women Cultural House of Ho Chi Minh City to arrange a meeting and provide school psychological support for a student with hearing loss. Additionally, CED facilitated the participation of a social work intern from CED to observe the session for writing a case study.
During the session, the counselor proposed several important support activities, including:
- Assisting the family in completing related paperwork.
- Providing guidance to the family and student on improving communication skills in the school environment.
- Cooperating with the parent, developing a plan to help the student achieve proper understanding and appropriate behavior.
After the session, CED continued to collaborate with the counselor and the social worker student to support the family in working with relevant parties to create learning and inclusive opportunities for the student with hearing loss.
